Detailed itinerary:
Day 1 – Johannesburg, South Africa
After arrival at the Johannesburg International Airport, OR Tambo, you will be transferred to the African Rock Hotel.

Here you will meet the rest of your travel companions. During dinner time, your guide will give his pre-safari briefing where you can raise any questions or lastminute concerns you may have. (D&B)

Depending on your arrival time, you might want to embark on a privately guided Johannesburg City tour to get some insight in the recent History of this new democracy, South Africa.

Day 2 – North West Province.
After breakfast, a transfer will take you to the 4x4 rental depot close by. After a thorough vehicle and equipment check and an introduction, your 4x4 safari vehicle and home for the duration of the safari, will be handed over to you. The adventure starts easy, by driving on highways heading South West via the very active gold mining area to the west of Johannesburg. Our route also takes us through Potchefstroom, home of the Afrikaans “University of Potchefstroom”. Vryburg in the North West Province is our goal of today, for our 1 st overnight camping stop. (FB)

Day 3 – Northern Cape Province
We travel on “the road less travelled” through wide open spaces where you can “see forever” passing through small towns and villages like Kuruman Hotazel and Askham to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park in the Northern Cape.

At the Twee Rivieren entrance gate we also finalize the border formalities for our onward journey to Botswana on day 6 to Matopi in Botswana.

Our Camp for the night is on the Twee Rivieren camp ground. (FB)

Day 4 & 5 – Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – South Africa.
These days are spent exploring the park, while game viewing will be your main activity. (FB)

Four-wheel drive instruction will be given before we negotiate the deep sandy tracks which makes driving in the Kalahari so adventurous.

Day 6 – 9 Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park – Botswana & Mabuasehube Game Reserve
Early morning, we cross the Nossob River bed, which forms the border between South Africa and Botswana. We negotiate our way over the famous red dunes on a single sandy track heading east to Matopi. Your driving skills will surely be tested today, getting stuck in the deep Kalahari sand is a good possibility, hence your back-up and support team close by.

During the following four days, you will get to know some of the interesting areas of this vast park and game reserve.

Far from civilisation, our days are spent game viewing and exploring the area, our camp for the nights are basic but we brought our comforts with us. Eland, oryx, springbok, blue wildebeest amongst others will attract the black maned Kalahari lions as well as cheetah, and leopard. Also, Aardwolf and the Brown Hyena are here at home. (FB)

Day 10 – South Africa, the Kalahari
We head out of the Game Reserve and head down south via the town of Tsabong to the tiny border post with South Africa, McCarthy’s Rest.

Our camp is set up on a private game farm along the road to Kuruman. (FB)

Day 11– Schweizer Reneke, North West Province
Enjoy the wide-open landscape of the Western Province for the last time while driving via Vryburg to just south of Schweizer-Reneke to our last overnight stop in a lodge on a Game Farm. (D&B)

Day 12 – Johannesburg.
After breakfast we head to Johannesburg where we will arrive in the early afternoon. We take the 4x4’s back to the depot close to the airport. A transfer will take you to the airport or to one of the airport hotels. – End of services. (B)
